Peel Good Vibes: The annual  Plant-a-thon is back!

It’s that time of year again, help plant trees to repair the native land by purchasing a box of 5lb Satsumas.

The Food Co-op is partnering with Northwest Watershed Institute (NWI) again to raise funds for the 2024 Plant-A-Thon!
1$ from every sale of 5lb. Satsuma boxes will go directly towards the Plant-A-Thon initiative.

Support Northwest Watershed Institute's 18th annual Plant-A-Thon with your purchase! Each year, over 100 people from at least five local schools come together to plant thousands of native trees and shrubs in the Tarboo watershed as part of an ongoing effort to restore critical salmon and wildlife habitat.

NWI believes that the Plant-A-Thon gives kids an opportunity to have a hands-on approach to solving environmental issues. NWI staff visit each participating class to share information about watershed restoration and protection through NWI's “How Salmon Grow on Trees and Trees Grow on Salmon” curriculum. Then, students interested in a leadership role receive training on plant identification and planting techniques before the project. During the Plant-A-Thon, these student leaders teach and guide small groups of other volunteers in planting a variety of bare-root and potted plants as well as live plant cuttings.

Plant-A-Thon 2024 projects will take place on Friday, February 9th and Saturday, March 9th from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
