Co+op Forest Program to Regenerate Rainforest in Brazil

NCG advocacy for climate action supports mitigation strategies that achieve long-term, verifiable carbon sequestration, encourage ecosystem benefits, reduce net pollution, and do not perpetuate environmental racism. For nine years, we’ve been offsetting carbon emissions associated with NCG staff travel, co-op staff travel to spring/fall meetings and Co+nvergence, as well as NCG’s office utilities by funding rainforest regeneration efforts in Peru. To date, NCG has contributed to the planting and protection of 1.8M trees in the Peruvian Amazon — enough to cover about 20% of New York City!

As that project draws to a close, we’re moving our efforts to Fazenda São Nicolau, a regenerative training center for local farmers in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Although in 2020 NCG’s carbon emissions were much lower, we opted to remain consistent in our level of support for these critical climate efforts, funding the planting of more than 3,000 trees in Brazil. For more details, please preview our press release, which will be publicly shareable with your networks on Mon, Nov 8.
