About Olympic PRIDE

Information from the Olympic Pride website:

Olympic Pride, first known as Jefferson County Pride, was born from the 2018 Women’s March. At the post-march celebration, marchers voted to earmark the remaining funds collected for the establishment of an area LGBTQ+ Pride.

Later that March, the Jefferson County Pride Board first convened, and members were selected to lead the organization. Nonprofit and tax-exempt status were filed for and granted.

In June 2018, Jefferson County Pride first sponsored the Pride festival in Port Townsend, WA.

In July 2019, Jefferson County Pride sponsored the second Pride festival, “Pride in the Park” at Pope Marine Park, Port Townsend.

In March 2020, Jefferson County Pride opened the Rainbow Center, a drop-in center for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies.

The coronavirus pandemic has greatly impacted the organization, forcing the closure of the Rainbow Center, the cancellation of Pride in the Park 2020, and the transition to all virtual operations.

Through the second half of 2020, the Board of Directors performed a significant restructuring, making way for second generation leadership to fulfill our mission and expand the reach of Jefferson County Pride.

2021 will be a time of significant growth and change. We’re rebranding under the name “Olympic Pride” and renewing our dedication to the service of the LGBTQ+ community on the Olympic Peninsula.

Come celebrate and support our communities!

We need at least 250 people to stretch from Haines Place to Kearney Street on the sidewalk. Let’s make a rainbow along Sims Way. This is a peaceful sidewalk event. Due to Covid restriction in Jefferson County until June 30th this event is simply standing proud together in solidarity and love.

You are encourage to dress up, bring your flags and your PRIDE!
