Retail Ready Checklist

These are important items for you to consider. You do not need to answer yes to all of these but please be aware and prepared!

  1.         Do your products meet our product guidelines, including no unacceptable ingredients?

  2.         Are you licensed to do business in Washington state?

  3.         Do you have a re-seller permit? This is only necessary if you are buying supplies for resale from us.

  4.         Are you aware of all the food-safety rules for selling food in WA state? This is especially important if you are selling us any PHFs (Potentially Hazardous Foods).

  5.         Do you have a food processor license?  

  6.         Are your products made in a certified facility?

  7.         Do your products meet labeling requirements? All food products are required to list all ingredients.

  8.         Does your business carry liability insurance?  All food vendors must have $1 million in liability insurance and name The Food Co-op in their policy.

  9.         Do your products have a UPC?  For packaged goods, we prefer vendors to register UPCs for your products with GS1. In rare instances, we will make an exception and accept an item without a UPC, and we will assign an internal store code instead.

  10.         Are your products packaged in a way that will sell well?

  11.         Do you have the ability to receive orders via email?  

  12.         Are you able to deliver orders Monday thru Friday 8 am-5pm?

  13.         Do you have an adequate and consistent supply (in season)?

If you can answer these questions, then you are ready to apply to sell your products to The Food Co-op!
