Community Expectations

At the Food Co-op, we're committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful space for everyone.
To help ensure a safe and positive experience for all, we ask customers, members, guests, vendors, and visitors to follow these expectations while on Co-op property.

Access to Employee Areas

For safety, food handling, and security reasons, please stay in customer areas unless you are accompanied by an employee or invited by management. Areas such as warehouses, food preparation spaces, offices, and maintenance areas are reserved for employees and authorized visitors.

Purchasing Items and Caring for Property

Please pay for all items before consuming them or leaving the store.
Help us care for our shared space by treating Co-op property with respect. Damage to property may result in being asked to leave and, when necessary, additional action.

Treat Everyone with Respect

We expect everyone in our store to treat others with kindness and respect.
Behavior that is threatening, abusive, harassing, discriminatory, intimidating, or disruptive is not acceptable. This includes interactions with employees, customers, members, and other visitors.

When Expectations Are Not Met

If someone's behavior is creating a disruption, making others feel unsafe, or interfering with store operations, a manager or Person in Charge (PIC) may remind them of these expectations, ask them to stop the behavior, or require them to leave the property. Anyone who refuses to comply may be asked to leave immediately, and law enforcement may be contacted if needed.

Our Commitment to a Safe Community Space

The Food Co-op strives to maintain an environment free from harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and threatening behavior.

Examples of unacceptable conduct include:

  • Hate speech or discriminatory remarks

  • Harassment or bullying

  • Threats or intimidation

  • Displaying or distributing offensive materials

  • Graphic violent content

  • Other behavior that creates an unsafe or unwelcoming environment

Repeated or serious violations may result in temporary or permanent restrictions from Co-op property.

Thank you for helping us create a safe, welcoming, and respectful community for everyone.
