Serving Hope, One Meal at a Time

REACH OUT one of our July/August Bean for Bags Recipients

About Reach Out:

Reach Out is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization serving unhoused individuals, seniors, and neighbors facing food insecurity throughout Port Townsend, and the Tri Area. Each week, our volunteers prepare and deliver approximately 180-200 hot meals and provide food support to neighbors who may not have reliable transportation or access to traditional meal programs.

Through a homemade hot meal once a week, we connect with our neighbors where they are and walk alongside them on their journey toward stability, recovery, and hope. We are committed to providing ongoing encouragement, support, and resources as they navigate their paths toward a brighter future.

Our mission is simple: We serve people where they are.

What Are We Excited About in 2026?

We are excited to continue growing our meal delivery program and expanding services to both unhoused individuals and senior citizens. Our goal is to increase the number of meals we provide each week while strengthening the relationships that help connect people with additional resources and support.

How Will Beans for Bags Funds Help?

Funds raised through Beans for Bags will help cover the cost of food, packaging supplies, fuel, vehicle maintenance, and delivery expenses that make our weekly meal program possible. One of our current needs is replacing the transmission in our delivery truck, The Lunch Box, which is essential for transporting meals and supplies.

A Success Story

I mentored a young man everyone else had given up on.

“A retired cop told me, ‘Mike, you’re putting too much energy toward that kid. He’s not going to make it.’ But I can’t give up on anybody,” I said. “We got him arrested, he went to a mental hospital, then to treatment. Now I sponsor him.”

He hated me at first — I represented something he didn’t believe he could ever have. But I kept bringing him meals, checking on him in the snow, making sure he had propane for heat. Now he’s part of our society again, and his parents believe we saved their son.”

What's New in 2026?

Reach Out continues to grow through increased volunteer participation, expanded meal production, and the addition of our box truck, The Lunch Box, which helps us transport meals and supplies throughout the community. We are also expanding our senior meal delivery program to reach more homebound neighbors.

A History of Success

Reach Out began with a handful of volunteers preparing meals in a small kitchen at New Life Church. Today, we provide approximately 180-200 hot meals each week and deliver food boxes to homebound neighbors throughout our community. Our growth has been made possible through the generosity of volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters who believe in helping others.

Thank you for supporting Reach Out and the people  we serve. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with The Food Co-op through the Beans for Bags program.
