change is the only constant
By Kenna Eaton, General Manager of The Food Co-op
I’m not sure who originally said it, but “change is the only constant” certainly feels true right now. There are so many things shifting that it can be hard to keep up.
One thing that has not changed is our commitment to you—our members. We are dedicated to bringing you the best food, the freshest produce, and high-quality products that are both delicious and reasonably priced.
We are all aware of rising prices across the country, and we are feeling those pressures at the Co-op as well. Even so, we continue to work hard to keep everyday prices as affordable as possible and to offer promotions that help stretch grocery budgets.
Behind the scenes, we are seeing ongoing challenges with supply chains. Many of our products are affected by global factors such as conflict, fuel costs, and transportation issues. These challenges influence everything from raw ingredients and packaging to shipping and delivery across all departments in our store.
At the same time, we are growing—thank you for that! With increased demand comes new challenges in keeping our shelves stocked and our kitchen running at full capacity. One way we are adapting is by partnering with outside vendors to help prepare some of our food. We have long worked with local partners and we are now expanding to include trusted producers from the Seattle area who meet our standards for quality and flavor. We see this as a positive step that helps us continue to serve you well.
You may also notice a price increase in our hot soups. This is not a change we make lightly. Rising ingredient costs—especially for fresh produce, dairy, and proteins—along with higher labor and packaging costs have made it necessary to adjust pricing. We remain committed to offering soups made from quality ingredients and prepared with care, and we will continue working hard to keep them at a good price.
From Co+op Deals and Co+op Basics to coupons and Wellness Wednesdays, there are many ways to save while shopping at the Co-op. Thank you for your continued support and for growing with us.
