Bayside Housing & Services Awarded 2025 GROW Fund Grant
The Food Co-op is proud to announce that Bayside Housing & Services has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 GROW Fund grant, receiving $1,597 in funding. The annual GROW Fund, made possible through our participation in the Twin Pines Cooperative Community Fund, supports Jefferson County nonprofits working to strengthen community resilience, food security, equity, and sustainability.
Bayside Housing & Services will apply the funds to purchasing food for its daily hot meal program, which serves 20 households of families and seniors living in temporary housing at Bayside Tower (part of The Old Alcohol Plant Inn in Port Hadlock), as well as up to 38 people each night at the Emergency Shelter operated out of the American Legion building in downtown Port Townsend.
Meals are prepared by the staff of Spirits Bar & Grill (also part of The Old Alcohol Plant Inn) and feature a nourishing main course—such as Chicken Alfredo, Eggplant Parmesan, Herbed Chicken, Lasagna, or Spaghetti with Meatballs—along with two sides, such as fresh salad, mashed potatoes, vegetable casserole, or hot rolls with butter. The organic gardens at the Old Alcohol Plant provide most of the herbs, greens, and vegetables, while staff and volunteers ensure meals are delivered daily to Bayside Tower’s community room and to the Emergency Shelter.
“We are honored to support Bayside’s vital work in Jefferson County,” said Andrea Stafford, Director of Marketing at The Food Co-op. “The GROW Fund is one way our members and shoppers invest back into the community, and Bayside’s impact is exactly the kind of story we hope to uplift.”
