PARKING LOT—AGAIN!
By Kenna S. Eaton, GM
For those of you who have been following up parking lot updates and are regulars you’ve probably noticed the newly installed speed ‘tables’ that we installed last month and then painted this month.
After hearing from shoppers and studying traffic flow in the lot, first we installed the ‘Slow the Flock Down” signs. But then we realized it wasn’t just that cars were driving too fast, but they were also driving against the flow (and directions), to snag the perfect parking spot. Or simply rushing to grab a slot before shopping and not noticing the pedestrians.
The signs & the speed tables give us the ability to encourage drivers to slow down even more. Painting the humps allowed us to;
alert drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to their presence and
to give even more information regarding navigation. The tables have yellow diagonal stripes and the one furthest from the store entrance is also painted “DO NOT ENTER”. I think they’re pretty hard to miss—and I hope you agree.
However, please take the time to look at these tables, pay attention to them when driving, riding or walking, and make sure to use caution and slow down when encountering them
Warmly, Kenna
