CVAR’s Growing Mission: Rescue, Rehabilitate, Rehome
Center Valley Animal Rescue (CVAR) is dedicated to providing safe harbor and rehabilitation for unwanted, injured, or abandoned domestic and wild animals. Our mission is rooted in compassion: to find loving homes for adoptable animals, provide permanent sanctuary for those that cannot be placed, and rehabilitate and release wildlife back into their natural habitats.
In recent years, the need for our services has grown dramatically. Hoarding cases have brought in dozens of animals at a time, while wildlife in crisis—from orphaned babies to animals injured by human activity—arrive at record levels. Each year, we are caring for more animals than ever before, and the demand continues to rise.
CVAR is stepping up to meet this challenge. With the support of our community, we are expanding resources, improving facilities, and strengthening our programs so that every animal that comes through our doors has the best possible chance of recovery, safety, and a brighter future.
What are you excited about in 2025?
We are thrilled to be moving forward with our Capital Campaign: From Rescue to Recovery to complete our new Wildlife and Isolation building. This much-needed facility will allow us to better care for sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals, as well as provide a safe space for all of the domestic animals in need of quarantine before entering the main shelter. This expansion is a vital step toward meeting the rapidly growing demand for rescue and rehabilitation services in our region. (You can donated directly to this campaign by clicking here.)
How will the funds raised at the Co-op help you reach your current goals?
Funds raised at the Co-op will directly support our Capital Campaign by helping us cover the many costs that come with a project of this scale. Even a smaller amount helps move the project forward and demonstrates the power of our community coming together to make a lasting difference for animals in need. We are so grateful for every donation - the support means the world to us and, of course, the animals!
Short success story:
In 2024, CVAR partnered with law enforcement to respond to a local hoarding case involving more than 150 cats. The conditions were heartbreaking, but with the dedication of our law enforcement, other shelters in the area, our staff, volunteers, and community, we were able to provide medical care, socialization, and adoption opportunities. Nearly every single cat we took in was suffering from Upper Respiratory Infections, flea anemia, and other diseases. After much care rehabilitation, nearly every cat from this case has since been adopted into a loving home—a remarkable testament to what compassion and collaboration can achieve!
New things happening at your organization for 2025:
Aside from the growth brought about by the new building, we have also been working on our current Wildlife facilities. We have built brand new enclosures and improved work/storage areas...all with the help of our incredible staff & volunteers!
A history of your successes:
Since our founding, CVAR has grown from a small grassroots effort into a leading rescue and rehabilitation center serving Jefferson County and beyond. Each year, we care for hundreds of domestic animals and hundreds of wild animals, providing safe harbor, veterinary care, rehabilitation, and adoption. Our successes include large-scale rescues, such as multi-animal hoarding cases, and countless individual stories of recovery and second chances. Our track record demonstrates our ability to rise to every challenge, and with generous support from our community, we will continue to do so!
