Have you heard about the Nordland General Store on Marrowstone Island? Established in 1922, this historic gem sadly faced a fire in 2020. However, like a phoenix from the ashes, it is now set to become a community-owned store, thanks to the cooperative efforts of its dedicated supporters.

As a fellow co-op, we are thrilled to share the remarkable history of this store and invite our wonderful members to become founding members of the Nordland General Store Cooperative. Currently, they are in the midst of a membership drive, seeking individuals who are community-minded and committed to the store's success.

Help them achieve their goal of 500 members! With substantial startup funds secured from over 30 founding investors, the next step is to gather additional support from the broader community. The aim is to reopen the store during the last week of May (Tractor Days) with 500 members and 50 financial investors, all devoted to the cooperative's prosperity.

As of the end of January, they have reached 310 members. Will you be #311, 312, 313, 314…? For membership details, visit https://www.nordlandgeneralstore.com/membership.
