From the Board: Starting the New Year with Mission & Principles

At the January board meeting, the board, member-owners, and staff were invited to explore the key words and concepts that we’d like to keep in our co-op’s Mission and Principles statements.

Keywords that were repeated throughout the study session included community, localnourish, health, and nurture. We summed up our basic message as: working together to nourish and nurture our community.

Other memorable words included solidarity, equity, compassionate, integrityinclusive, and regenerative.

We also looked at the International Cooperative Alliance’s Rochdale principles, a set of values set out in England in the 1840s, to make sure we were not repeating ourselves.

This month, we will be attending staff team meetings and gathering input from the operational standpoint. We will also be in the store again on Sunday, January 27th, from 4pm – 6pm. We look forward to hearing from you in person or at mission@foodcoop.coop.

Join us in our important mission!

Your board President and VP,
Owen & Juri
